Poem for Grammar Class

"A Chilling Kind of Night"
(based off Ralph Fletcher's "A Writing Kind of Day" for a parallel structure assignment)

It is thundering tonight,
a chilling kind of night.

Each boom shakes the sky
like corn in a popper,
vibrating in a cramped pattern

of sounding chaos

that fades slowly
and embraces silence
floating toward the horizon.
